Collecting requirements on a project is essential because it helps the project manager identify and determine the activities to be carried out on the project to successfully deliver the project objectives.

Ideally, each project requirement should satisfy the project objectives, when it doesn't, the project manager needs to check and verify with the project sponsor or client to verify the objective.

The process of collecting requirements occurs during the project planning phase, however, project manager's have to manage this throughout the project.

Collecting Requirements is the key to ensuring the PM deliver on the project objectives which would ultimately deliver business value.

As a Project Manager, it is your responsibility to ensure that you are clear on all the requirements for a project as it directly impacts your project scope, schedule, and budget, I can go on and on because....it impacts every aspect of the project.
