A nebulizer has several different parts. There is the compressor, nebulizer canister, plastic tubing, mouthpiece, tadapter and reservoir tubing.

To assemble the nebulizer for use with a ventilator, connect the plastic tubing to the compressor. Next, connect the free end of the tubing to the bottom of the canister. Then, gently twist on the tadapter to the canister.

The tadapter comes in two different basic forms. If the tadapter has one small end and one large end, it can attach directly to the ventilator tubing. On my ventilator circuit, the large end connects to the exhalation valve. The small end connects to the tubing.

If the tadapter is the same size at both ends, the tadapter needs to be connected to the reservoir tube. On my ventilator circuit, the reservoir tube attaches to the exhalation valve. The tadapter connects to the tubing.

To nebulizer, fill the canister with the no more than 5 milliliters of solution. Attach the canister to the tadapter and turn on the nebulizer. #lifewithavent #ventilator #nebulizer
