Crocheting a rose is a great project for beginners. It looks complicated, but it's really quite easy. You can crochet a rose with the basic chain, followed by one row of alternating single and double crochet stitches. Alternating the single and double crochet stitches, gives a bumpy petal pattern to the work. Then, you simply roll the petals into a rose and secure it by sewing through the back of your crochet rose with a yarn needle. The rose in this video was wound loosely, because I prefer the look of an open rose. The step by step video will walk you through it. In the video an H size crochet hook was used along with cotton yarn, the crisp cotton yarn yields a stiffer flower. Softer yarn will create a rose that is limp.
