I know, I know. The most controversial topic in all of fitness. Abs.

Yes, they are primarily built in the kitchen. Your abs will only be visible if you have a low enough body fat percentage, which comes from eating at a caloric deficit over a long period of time. ✅

However, the same thing could be said for every muscle. It just so happens that for many people, lots of fat is held in the stomach area, and thus abs might not be visible even if other muscles are.

So if you are just looking to have visible abs, go ahead and skip your ab workouts and disregard this.

HOWEVER... If you actually want to directly strengthen and stabilize your abs, you should do some specific ab training.

AND, believe it or not, abs can be grown just like any other muscle. If you correctly apply progressive overload with quality exercises (like this one), you can induce hypertrophy of your abdominals and obliques.

So that means that once you are at a lower body fat percentage, your abs will be even more defined and stronger than ever.

Look, I know some of you are reading this and angry at me because you're stuck in your beliefs. Have an open mind, and you might just learn something new

At the end of the day:

ABS ARE JUST LIKE ANY OTHER MUSCLE.

THEY ARE GROWN IN THE SAME WAY, STRENGTHENED IN THE SAME WAY, AND STRETCHED IN THE SAME WAY.

So stop treating them like something different. ‍♂
