My mate Doug's Transit recently failed its MOT in high style, as quite a lot of the underside had dissolved, as Transits are wont to do.


Although the plan initially was to scrap it, prices of Transits are riding high at the moment, so it made it worthwhile doing some fairly extensive repairs by welding new sections in around most of it.

The video shows preparation before welding, welding technique and discuses the work needed to compete repairs to MOT standard. We're not looking to do a beautiful job, we're looking to complete a functional repair to extend the life of the van.
