AutoCAD for Beginners – How to draw a floor plan for Interior Design
This video walks you through a step by step process in drawing a simple floor plan in AutoCAD. It assumes you know some AutoCAD basics like layers and drawing commands. It brings these basics together to show how they're applied in drawing a floor plan.

Step 1 – Walls
Draw walls according to survey dimensions.
**Commands used: POLYLINE, LINE, TRIM, OFFSET, COPY

Step 2 – Doors and Windows
Add doors and windows according to survey dimensions and locations.
**Commands used: COPY, MOVE, LINE, TRIM, OFFSET, EXPLODE, MIRROR, STRETCH

Step 3 – Fitted Items
Add plumbing fixtures, cabinetry, etc. according to survey or design.
**Commands used: COPY, MOVE, EXPLODE, STRETCH, ROTATE, LINE, POLYLINE

Step 4 – Furniture
Add furniture according to design.
**Commands used: COPY, MOVE, ROTATE, STRETCH, MIRROR
Step 5 – Adding details
**Commands used: HATCH, LINE, JOIN, COPY
