How to fill out Form 1040NR for the 2022 tax year.

We have a simple example for a taxpayer with U.S. rental property held through a singlemember disregarded LLC for federal tax purposes. The taxpayer makes an election under Section 871(d) to treat the income as effectively connected with a U.S. trade or business.

In addition to filing this Form 1040NR, the LLC should also be filing Form 5472 because it is a foreignowned disregarded LLC. The Form 5472 & proforma Form 1120 are required to disclose the reportable transactions between the nonU.S. owner and the U.S. disregarded LLC.
