How to fill out Form I601 (Application for Waiver of Grounds of
Inadmissibility)

You should use Form I601 if you are a foreign citizen who can be held inadmissible to the
United States on certain grounds from the INA, which can include security or health risks,
criminal grounds, immigration fraud and misrepresentation, immigrant membership in a
totalitarian party, alien smuggling, civil penalty, a previous ban from the U.S. for 3 to 10
years, as well as a possible need for welfare.
By submitting the form, you can immigrate to the U.S., gain nonimmigrant status, or update
your status to permanent residence. You should not use Form I601 if you are applying for a
provisional unlawful presence waiver. You qualify for the inadmissibility waiver only if you
have at least one relative already living in the U.S
