A hip drop can be indicative of the cause of running injuries such as ITB Syndrome, Piriformis Syndrome and Lower Back Pain, just to mention a few, and suggests gluteal dysfunction as an underlying cause.

This uneven tilt of the pelvis and hips comes as a result of poor dynamic stability of the weightbearing hip during stance phase of running gait. Ideally we want to see that the gluteus medius muscles (amongst other stabiliser muscles) are working effectively to stabilise the standing hip, so that the pelvis can remain level. When glute medius doesn't do it's job effectively, we see this lateral tilt of the pelvis.

In this video, I'm going to show you three simple exercises you can do to correct a hip drop by strengthening gluteus medius and improving hip stability. This will help you improve your running technique and run without injury.
