How to Install a Bat House on Post

Follow
Bat Conservation and Management

Sometimes the best location for a bat house is on its own free standing post. Lori and Sage discuss key points as they choose a site, prep a mount kit, attach a ColonyLodge bat house, and set the post in the right orientation. For more micro siting considerations and installation tips, download our manuals at http://www.batmanagement.com

The ColonyLodge bat house contains four wooden roost chambers protected by a thick plastic exterior for low maintenance and superior long life. The post in this video is two 2''x6''x16' PT sandwiched together to make a single 4''x6''x16' post that better resists warping. The post is actually made with a hinge bolt that allows it to pivot to the ground; this is discussed in another video. BCM has been studying bat houses since the 1990's, ships bat houses nationwide, and is available for installations.
