In this video I will walk you thru a few simple steps to modify/adapt the US General 5 Drawer Cart's Folding Shelf to the new 34" Full Bank Master Tech Service Cart.

The best way to do this is to buy the shelf at the same time and use the Master Tech Service Cart's handle for a template. You can also easily run measurements, but in this video I show you a really simplistic way to just match up the holes on a cardboard template.

@0:26 US General Folding Side Tray for 5 Drawer Mechanic's Cart
@0:45 Master Tech Side Tray?
Kind of strange that the Full Bank Master Tech Service Cart has been out this long and HF doesn't have a standalone side tray for them yet. The way things go for me, it will drop a few days after doing this, lol.

@3:52 US General 4 Drawer vs Master Tech
Hardware with Nuts will NOT work on the Master Tech Service Cart like it would the
@4:15 M8x20mm Bolt
@4:32 Master Tech Hardware
M8x25mm T40
@4:55 New Hardware for Shelf
M8x25mm
Should have got Flats and Locks...thought they were included with the 5 Drawer Folding Shelf

@7:25 Simplistic Template
I went this route so virtually ANYONE can replicate the procedure
Use the bottom of the box, locate the holes by "feel" and simply punch thru
Use a bolt for a place holder and repeat for the other 3 holes
@8:29 Marking Holes
Super tight quarters...just line up the cardboard template with the edge of the shelf to locate the holes properly
@10:07 Transfers
Again, easiest setup is to have the shelf ahead of time and use the handle BEFORE installing it as a template
@10:45 Center Punch and Drill
Drill top holes first (L and R)
@11:28 Top Hole Test Fit
@11:40 1/8" Pilot and 5/16" Finish Hole
Deburr and File...tape one side
@12:09 Hold Shelf by Mounting Plate and Support + Surface
Much easier with 2 people
Easy to get clocked in the head, or arm working solo

@14:10 Need to Add FW and LW
Will get them and paint the bolt eventually...no real rush

Not necessary, but peace of mind

@18:15 4 Drawer vs 5 Drawer
The shelves have different dimensions...5 Drawer is bigger
I would go with the 5 Drawer, but I'm sure you could modify the 4 Drawer to fit too
@19:15 M8x25mm Over M8x20mm
The extra length is desirable with the Master Tech Service Cart
20mm works fine for 4 or 5 Drawer Carts
@19:54 Soft Backing
@20:15 Shelf Coating Options
Shelf Paper, Box Liner, Textured Paint?
What would you do?
@21:00 Color Match or Complimentary Match
@21:20 Shelf Functions
@21:50 Shelf Measurements
Inside Measurements: 18" x 16"
Box Out: 18" x 17"
@23:00 Recap
Box Cutter, Scissors/Shears, Center Punch, Marker, 1/8" and 5/16" Drill Bits, Deburring Tool/File, 13mm Socket
