You can also put a transparent decal so you can see through the glass painting on the other side.

You can also raise a flat roof to height of 2nd floor roof and place carpets on it (you can place carpets on carpets)

Make sure to change the grid size to place the pillars/glass painting together (there is a square box with 4 squares in it in the build mode menu)
