How to make a geological map in QGIS

In this lesson, you'll master the art of designing a professional geological map using QGIS, the powerful, free, and opensource mapping software. We begin by setting up the map in the "map canvas," ensuring all necessary elements are in place for an effective visual representation.

Next, we'll proceed to the layout phase, where you'll construct the project and incorporate key features to boost the map's readability and precision. These features include:

1) Coordinate Grid: Learn to add a grid that aids in spatial orientation and referencing throughout the map.
2) Scale Bar and Numerical Scale: We will integrate a scale bar along with a numerical scale to provide clear references for size and distance measurements.
3) Legends: Add two types of legends, one for geological structures and another for geological units, to facilitate the accurate interpretation of the data displayed.
4) Project Information Box: Include a box with crucial details about the project, like the title, author, and date.

Following the setup of these components, I'll guide you through exporting the map as a raster image. This image can be printed as a hard copy for practical field use or display. We'll also explore a variety of other export formats to suit different needs and applications.

By the end of this lesson, you'll be equipped to produce and export geological maps of professional quality in a range of formats.
