Build a strong LinkedIn profile and network as a student in Canada. A recent survey showed that 85% of recruiters are hiring using LinkedIn, making it more important than ever to have a strong profile.

Step 1 is to fix your LinkedIn ID link, which can be done by customizing your URL through the "Edit public profile and URL" option.

Step 2 is to fix your LinkedIn background photo to make your profile look more professional and presentable. You can find a free LinkedIn background using Canva or Google.

Step 3 is to add a professional photo to your LinkedIn profile, ensuring that your face takes up 60% of the photo and your shoulders take up 40%.

Step 4 is to optimize your LinkedIn heading with strong keywords related to your field to increase the chances of your profile popping up when hiring managers are looking for someone like you. Follow the layout of what you are studying, upcoming applications, the field of job you're looking for, any past certifications, and your year of graduation.

Step 5 is to write a solid "About" section in your LinkedIn profile that provides more information about you and increases the chances of people connecting with you. Include education and scholarships, past certifications and experience, leadership skills, and a closing paragraph.
