How To Make a Pipe Jig - Part 3 - Acid Wash

Follow
Advanced Fishing and Outdoor LLC.

This a continuation of the How to Make Pipe Jig series. Pipe Jigs are very effective for Lingcod and Halibut. I've even hooked many Black Cod/Sable fish on these.

Several comments and questions from the other videos around cleaning the pipe.

Really, this video should be part 1, if you want to do an acid wash of the copper. Because you want to clean the copper before you add the swivels and before you do the lead pour. Also, you want to give yourself ample time for everything to dry so you have no residual water before pouring the lead since this can be extremely dangerous pouring lead with any water.

Of course you can use sand paper, Scotch Brite Pad, even a wire wheel brush to physically clean the copper. But if you plan ahead, you can use Vinegar to effortlessly clean the pipe before you build the pipe jigs.

Here is part 1.

When working with Molten Lead, use extreme caution and use good safety practices. Do not do this if you are not comfortable with working with lead.
