How to Make a Princess Leia Costume Part 2: The Dress

Follow
The Woodland Elf

This is based on the Princess Leia costume that she wore in A New Hope. This is the looser version of the white dress that Leia wore through most of the movie (not the tighter award ceremony version at the end). Leia's dress in the Star Wars movie was almost completely seamless, the whole thing being cut out of a single piece of material. I didn't have material wide enough to do that, however, so mine has a few seams in it. However, by making it out of a turtleneck, it does save you having to sew a collar on the dress, as the turtleneck already provides one (and a turtleneck is generally thicker than most knit material, so you won't have to worry about it being seethrough)
