In this stepbystep tutorial, we'll show you how to make a UML sequence diagram using Lucidchart. Sequence diagrams are a type of Unified Modeling Language (UML) diagram that shows interactions over time. They can map out complex architecture, but they can also be surprisingly easy to create.

We'll be diagramming the interaction that happens when you go to withdraw cash at an ATM. There are five main elements that make up a sequence diagram: actors, objects, lifelines, messages, and activation boxes. We'll explain each of these items as we build our diagram example.
