Will J Bailey

Sequel to last year's bookbinding tutorial explaining how to make a watercolour sketchbook. This followup details my refined process. Alternatively buy a book from my online shop: https://www.willjbaileyshop.com.

UPDATES:

I don't cut my board with a scalpel anymore, I use a Rotatrim Pro 24 Rotary Cutter.

One thing I forgot to mention in the video is price as with everything, costs have gone up since the first video. Realistically it will cost at least £2530 for the materials alone, excluding tools, for a large Fabriano Artistico book.

For the spine, I now use the same Bockingford paper as I use for the endpapers. I cut them short grain to make the spine stiff. Works well.

Turns out I'm allergic to nitrile gloves they make my hands saw and blotchy. Apparently this is quite common due to 'accelerants' used in their manufacture. I now use Unigloves Zero Nitrile GM005 AcceleratorFree Gloves which stop this from happening.
