Using wood battens, we crafted a sculpture employing the principle of tensional integrity, commonly known as tensegrity. In this design, all the strings are consistently under tension, giving the sculpture the illusion of levitation.
Tensegrity is a design concept where a noncontinuous arrangement of compression elements is counteracted and harmonized by an ongoing tensile force. This results in an internal prestress that stabilizes the entire structure, creating perplexing physicsdefying structures that appear to challenge the fundamental laws of gravity
