How to make and use a cola pen - line and wash bald eagle

Follow
Liz Chaderton

This is a bonus film, rather than my weekly one. It is a recording of an online demonstration I gave to the North Weald Art Group via zoom. In it, I demonstrate how to make your own cola pen and then go on to do a line and wash bald eagle, using Indian Ink and watercolour. They have kindly given me permission to use it here.

As it is recorded from Zoom, the quality is not perfect and of course there are interruptions and questions, but as lots of people have asked to see a full time demonstration of this technique, it was too good an opportunity to pass by! And you can fast forward over the half time tea break!!

A cola pen is a folded nib pen made from a drink's can. It only takes ten minutes to make. It is beautifully expressive and you can obtain thick and thin marks from the same dip nib. It's a bit unpredictable, but that's why I love it.

More information about the art group can be found here: http://www.northwealdartgroup.org.uk/. They are based in Reigate, Surrey, UK.

I post a weekly film, usually on Sunday 2pm UK time. Please like and subscribe and hit the notification bell to be told about the next one.
