How to make Pani Puri at home | Indian Appetizer

Today I bring you the recipe for Pani Puri, also known as Phoochka, Gol Gappa, it is a popular street food in India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan. The name Pani Puri means "water in fried bread". "Puri" or the fried bread has a crispy empty shell, it is filled with a stuffing based on boiled potato, boiled chickpeas along with spices. Then the sweet and sour flavored spiced water (pani) made with tamarind pulp and lemon are added to fill the inside of the dough. The recipe for Pani Puri is different from region to region, but this basic recipe will help you to try it at home.

Ingredients:
1 pack dry Puri dough
oil for frying

For the filling:
120g cooked chickpeas (Soaked from the night before).
45 boiled potatoes
1/2 an onion
1 teaspoon roasted ground cumin seeds
1 teaspoon roasted ground coriander seeds
1/2 teaspoon of chili flakes Salt to taste
Salt to taste

For the sweet and sour sauce (Khatta meetha pani)
50g seedless tamarind
23 tsp sugar
Salt to taste
1 tsp chili flakes
12 tsp Chat Masala
Water for the sauce

For the Spicy Green Sauce (Tikha Pani)
1015 mint leaves
1012 sprigs of fresh coriander
1 green chilli
1 piece of ginger
Lime juice
1 teaspoon of Himalayan black salt
1 teaspoon dried mango powder
Black pepper
1 teaspoon roasted ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground coriander seeds
Salt to taste
Water for the sauce

Note: You can buy Puri (the dry dough) in Indian grocery stores. Tamarind can be found in Latin American and Asian stores.
