The Lockheed SR71 is an advanced longrange strategic reconnaissance aircraft capable of speeds of Mach 3, developed from the Lockheed YF12A and A12 aircraft by Lockheed's Skunk Works group. The SR71 was unofficially known as the Blackbird, and was nicknamed Habu ("snake") by its aircrews. Clarence "Kelly" Johnson was responsible for many advanced concepts in design, and the SR71 was one of the first aircraft shaped to minimize its radar crosssection, despite its radar signature. can still be detected by modern radar systems, unlike later stealth aircraft models.
