Can a substance be solid and liquid at the same time? Here’s an experiment to make a nonNewtonian fluid which doesn’t behave by the rules!

Reagents and equipment:

glass bowl
vegetable oil
food colouring (optional)
citric acid
baking soda
silicone ice cube mold
water
Instructions:
Mix roughly 5 tablespoons each of baking soda, citric acid, and vegetable oil in a glass bowl. Add food colouring (optional) and stir. Transfer the mixture to a silicone ice cube mold and leave it in the freezer overnight. When your bath bomb is ready, toss it in the water and watch it fizz!
Scientific description:
When exposed to water, the bath bomb’s ingredients (citric acid and baking soda) begin to gradually dissolve and react with each other. This creates a lot of carbon dioxide, which forms enormous quantities of bubbles on the surface of the water!
