Numbering and naming of spiro compounds is somewhat different and again it depends on the type of cylclic rings involved in the structure. For hydrocarbon and heterocyclic spiro compounds numbering is similar. But for polycyclic spiro compounds, the numbering of polycyclic ring system is retained.
