In this video, Dr Amdad Faruqi is explaining the 5 second trick to open a blocked ear.
You can experience blocked ear during flu illness or travel to hill station.
this trick is called Valsalva Maneuver.
STEPS OF VALSALVE MANEUVER EXERCISE:
1 Take a deep breath to fill your lungs with air.
2 Seal your lips tight and pinch your nose to blocked it fully.
3 Try to breath out with closed mouth and pinched nose so that there should be no way for air to leak. keep this breathing out as long as you can. Now you will feel if air is leaking through your ears especially blocked ear and from inner sides of your eyes.
4 once you fatigued, open your mouth and nose and breath out easily.
HOW VALSALVA OPENS A BLOCKED EAR:
When you breath out with closed mouth and pinched nose, air in oral cavity will enter a tube called eustachian tube, which connects oral cavity with middle part of ears on both sides of head. This air leak caused eustachian tube to open up and ear get open.
HOW MANY TIMES A DAY TO DO VALSALVA MANEUVER EXERCISE:
10 x Exercise x 3 times a day x 10 days.
