How to Paint a Fall Scenery with Watercolors

Hello, everyone!

The autumn is ending so quickly! I want to commemorate this year's autumn with this painting. Instead of painting a complete sheet of maple leaves this time, I've chosen to depict fallen leaves stacked on the ground. Do you like this kind of scene?

0:00 sketch
I first drew a short trunk with a pencil, then sketched some leaves scattered around. These shapes don't need to be perfect. As you know, in the thick layers of leaves, we usually see irregular and incomplete shapes. So, just keep a few completeshaped leaves on the top, and remember to make the leaves closer to us larger.

For the watercolor part:

2:09 base color
I first used Chromium yellow hue deep, Permanent carmine, Lavender, and Cadmium red light to paint the first layer of the background.

4:50 creat leaves
After the background dried, I started creating the shapes of the maple leaves. I drew the shapes of the leaves, but in some areas, I also used the negative painting technique to depict the gaps between the leaves.

7:35 build layers
I continued stacking the layers of maple leaves.

8:26 trunk
I began using May green, Phthalo green, and Sepia brown to paint the short trunk, adding moss and wood texture, as well as shadows of the maple leaves.

10:48 details
the final touches and details were added. Some leaves were given veins or stems.

12:38 same technique
I used the same technique to paint more scenes of falling leaves.

Autumn is over! Did you manage to create a favorite autumn scene for yourself this year? Thank you for watching! :)
