Backgrounds are essential to great landscapes. Our eyes typically wander to the horizon line in a good painting. This is why it's important that our colors as well as the textures we lay down are accurate to what we are trying to depict.
In this video I show you how to paint the background as I continue with this landscape. I show how to paint the distant mountains, how to add light to the hills, how to mix the colors, and how to paint the fine details in the rocky cliffs.

Golden fluid acrylics and Liquitex soft body acrylics (titanium white, cad yellow light, quinacridone magenta, phthalo blue, burnt umber)
Stretched canvas
Various brushes I showed throughout the video (artist loft scrumbler, princeton round blender...)
No medium was used for the acrylics
