This video timelapse shows how to paint a sunrise over the ocean Alla prima (in one sitting) in oils. This artwork is inspired by a sunrise I recently saw in LauderdalebytheSea, Florida.
Here I used the following colors: Payne’s Gray, Portland Cool Gray, Portland Warm Gray, Naples Orange, Naples Yellow and White. I also used Liquin Original as a painting medium.
I really love and recommend brushes from my favorite supplier Princetonbrush.com : #12 Catalyst angle bright, #4 Catalyst series, filbert, 1" wide bristle brush and a liner from Aspen series.
The original painting "Warm Glow" measures 40x16 inches and is now in a private collection in Japan.
Please note: any paintings created using my tutorials are not viable to sell. Here I offer an insight into my technique and hope that all my artistfriends will find it useful or at least entertaining. You're most welcome to try out some techniques I taught myself over the years.
