This tutorial will take you through easy to follow, stepbystep instructions on how to paint Van Gogh's Starry Night painting. This is a simplified version of the original masterpiece and is not intended to be an exact replica. We're here to have fun and be creative, so let's get painting and let's get sipping!

MATERIALS:
Canvas: 16x20 stretched primed canvas
Brushes: #11 flat synthetic or 1/2 inch flat bristle, #6 round, #1 round
Acrylic Paint: titanium white, mars black, ultramarine blue, chrome yellow, phthalo green, burnt sienna
Other: palette, cup of water for washing brushes, paper towel for drying brushes

STEPS:
1. #11 flat brush Paint entire canvas with blue
2. #6 round brush Paint outline of selected hills and tree tops with black
3. #6 round brush Paint the outline of wind with black
4. #6 round brush Finish painting the mountains with white, yellow, green, black and blue
5. #6 round brush Paint ground and two small hills with burnt sienna (aka rust), green and white
6. #6 round brush Paint first layer of stars with white
7. #6 round brush Finish painting the wind with white, blue, green and yellow
8. #6 round brush Finish painting trees with white, yellow and green
9. #6 round brush Paint first layer of cypress tree with black
10. #6 round brush Finish painting the stars with yellow and burnt sienna
11. #1 round brush Paint the village with all colors
12. #6 round brush Finish painting cypress tree with white, green, burnt sienna and black
13. #1 round brush Sign your name with any color
