One way to speed up pistol reloads is by driving the elbow down. It minimizes excessive movement and places the pistol in a repeatable spot for faster reloads. Plus, the method of how reloading in one's "workspace" is wrong. And my thoughts on why I think the loss of gross motor skills argument (resulting in one needing to manipulate the slide with hand vs. using slide release) is way over blown and flawed.
