WHAT IS CASING SOIL IN MUSHROOM CULYIBATION?

The casing is one of the steps in mushroom cultivation. Casing involves the covering of compost with a thin layer of sterile soil or materials like chalk powder to maintain moisture and gaseous exchange. The material used to cover the compost must be neutral or slightly alkaline.

Good casing soil must have the following properties:

1.a high moisture capacity and a waterretaining ability

2.an optimal pH level for mycelium growth

3.a firm structure, that doesn’t change during the treatment and watering processes, and a sufficient air and water permeability

4.the absence of pests and pathogenic organisms.

Raw Material used by me : for 20 beds of mushroom.
1. Cocopeat 4 kg
2. Vermicompost 10kg
3.chuna 300gm
4. Formalin 100ml
5. Bavistin. 3 4 mg
6. Water  more than half liter


1. After combing all this you need to keep the casing soil cover properly for 72 hrs, Undisturbs
2. After 3 days open the casing soil bag and see that there will be no smell of formalin and the sterilization is done and now do the process as I have shown in the video
Cut the bag into half and press it make a space of around 2 3 inched and put a thick layer of soil on the bag top, realy this with all the bag which you have once you have done it than sorry some water on the bags

3. Now everyday spray some water once in a day and around 7 to 10 days it will take to appear a pin head and once the pinhead appear in next 4 days your crops are ready to harvest.

Important  notes
When you will  start the process of casing soil,
So when you have kept your beds in incubation period so around on 25 or 30 days of bed making this time period I have taken for my beds
But once you see that your beds are completely covered with white mycelium than you bag is ready for casing soil.
