Dear Brothers and Sisters, in every parish Orthodox church there is a place where we can pray for the repose of our deceased loved ones. Even during offduty hours.
This place is usually located near the church's large Crucifix. It is easy to identify by such a rectangular candlestick, which also has a Crucifix, a lamp and a place for candles. This place is called "eve". There may also be a table for offering a memorial service for the dead. When people make a sacrifice, which is then distributed to poor people, that is, to those who are poor. Very often, churches organize dinners for the poor, and this is a great help. And also, of course, coming to this place, we must pray with you for repose. Having acquired a candle in the temple, giving a sacrifice to the temple, we approach with a prayer: “Lord remember the repose of the soul of your deceased servant, or your servant (name) and grant him or her the Kingdom of Heaven.” After that, we light the candle in this way: we must light the wick, melt the bottom a little and put it in a special place. After that, the candle burns and already burning, this sacrifice (candle) as our prayer ascends to God.
