After any surgery, the patient is going to go on an antibiotic. So I give a lot of importance to the diet after the surgery. With antibiotics and pain killers, the patient should be having a very weak stomach means there is shift in the organisms, meaning there is a death of a lot of normal gut organisms and the gut movement and motility is also disturbed, digestive capacity is also disturbed. So there is tendency after any laparoscopic or any open surgery we do, tendency is that the individual takes a lot of milk, biscuits etc. This is what the patients used to think, that has to shift. So patients wont be able to digest the heavy oily foods and proteins diet that can form gas in the stomach. So it is better to give soups and antioxidant diet, I would call and rice is a food that is easily digested, even idli is a very good food to reduce gas, in any post operative patient, especially post laparoscopic surgery. after laparoscopic surgery, though w e say it is a painless surgery, there are certain small cuts that is made there maybe muscular spasm, in the muscles so that is why you feel a little bloated and a little tight on you abdominal muscle wall. So for that it is better that you move around as early as possible, but that itself will reduce the gas and bloating feeling in these patients.
