I have been battling a war with nutsedge for many years. This summer, The nutsedge was thicker than ever before. I don't have any explanation for it, but it's thick. If you let nutsedge get out of control it can take over an entire garden. I tried different methods in the past to eliminate nutsedge, with varying levels of success. It's come to the point where I've decided to Simply remove the nutsedge by hand. This is an ongoing task over several days, maybe even weeks. Come along and see how it's done.

Black Gumbo shares our suburban, backyard, sustainable gardening efforts. We work a smallscale, typical Zone 9a garden and raised beds, the kind of gardening accessible to all. We tend to take the slice of life approach and hope you will enjoy our family, our dog, our cooking, our adventures, and occasionally some commentary and advice. We love family, joy and friendship, and we invite you to enjoy these things with us!
