How To: Replace PS4 Pro HDD u0026 Format! PS4 WON'T BOOT? NO SAFE MODE? This is your fix!

Super common issue with PS4's is that the hard drive fails. Some people (albeit, very rarely) fix their issue simply by removing the HDD and reinserting it. Some also (rarely) fix it by booting into SAFE MODE, and reinstalling the PS4 operating system.

(Booting into safe mode: When the console is OFF, hold the power button for roughly 710 seconds. On the 2nd beep, release the button and it will be in safe mode. If nothing happens you need to replace your HDD!)

In this consoles case, those didn't work. I couldn't even get it to boot into safe mode! Dead HDD!

Replacement 2TB drive on Amazon was about $73 (links below!) and took all of 5 minutes to swap out. At this point, we finally got it into safe mode. Now we need to install the PS4 operating system. You'll need either a USB thumb drive, or an external drive that uses USB 2.0 or above. I personally used my spare USB 3.0 2TB HDD.

Make sure the device is formatted to FAT32/MSDOS. Create a folder "PS4" and in that folder, create another folder "UPDATE" and in the update folder is where you drag the update file you download.
