Hey everyone!
I'm trying to get back to my Wednesday upload schedule after the whole broken laptop screen debacle. So, today I'm showing you how I create a drawing and then resize and transfer it to my canvas using a rapidresizer.com and transfer paper.
For the initial sketch I use a regular old mechanical pencil and I measure out a rectangle with the same aspect ratio as my canvas. In this case I am using an 18x24 inch canvas which is a 3:4 ratio. So, the rectangle on the paper is 12x16 inches (also a 3:4 ratio). I started off by drawing a vertical line down the center and a horizontal line across in order to find the exact center of the rectangle. I used two reference photos I found on Unsplash.com to get the placements of the facial features and the proportions of the 3/4 profile view. I then use a set of illustrator pens that I got from Michael's (Artist Loft brand) to darken the lines.
After the drawing was complete, I took a photo of the drawing and used Adobe Photoshop to crop and make sure it was a 3:4 ratio.
I hope you enjoy the video and please leave any questions in the comment section!
