The German Gewehr 88 is one of the most misunderstood rifles in the milsurp community. It being quickly replaced by the Mauser 98 in Imperial German Army, uncertainty regarding the bore diameter and ammunition compatibility issues all contribute to the rifle being underappreciated today. The latter two can be worked around as I show in this video, resulting in pleasant shooting rifle.
