Tools needed:
Slip pliers or stillsons
Old rag to protect the tap collar
PTFE tape
Pipe sealing cord (Loctite 55)

Another 'real world' plumbing repair this time on a monobloc type tap that was leaking from the swivel joint (where the spout meets the body of the tap)
Again as in my previous emergency plumbing repair videos, this method uses PTFE tape in addition to Loctite's '55 Pipe Sealing Cord'. Reason I used this was because the O ring seals had started leaking but I couldn't find new seals with the same cross section shape which is a 'squared off oval'. Found plenty of tap (faucet) repair kits but none of them had the seals I needed. So one thing left to do and that was to wrap several turns of PTFE within the seal recess which smooths out any pitting or corrosion of the metal. (only attempt to remove old seal if still intact and flexible if it's gone hard leave it.)
I then put the old seals back and wrapped several turns of Loctite's 55 Pipe Sealing Cord around each side of both seals effectively bulking them up. Don't use too much otherwise you won't be able to fit the tap spout unit back in the body of the tap.
Please note this is a temporary repair only. There is no substitute for correct Orings/seals.
To date, the tap is still leak free. At least I can then search for correct seals or plan to replace the whole unit as it is over 11 years old. (I suspect this particular tap Oring is no longer made)
Monobloc taps either have a threaded collar retaining the spout or a grub screw behind the tap which retains a trim collar and the spout unit. Check your tap first before attempting to unscrew anything. Also very important to support base of tap when unfastening the collar otherwise it can twist the feed pipes under the sink.
