This is part one of a twopart video where I paint a 34X48" painting titled "Land of the Free" for my oneperson show in June 2020 at Trailside Gallery in Jackson, Wyoming. In this video, I start the painting and get all the background and middle ground done. In the second video, I'll be finishing it by painting the foreground rise, the horse standing on it, and the herd of horses running toward the viewer. I talk you through my painting process, show you the colors on my palette and how I use the painting medium Liquin to make the paint behave better for me. I'll also talk about why I'm doing what I'm doing.
