How to take apart a 767 | behind the scenes with AviaPrime in Belgrade

In this video we’re jetting over to Belgrade, Serbia to check out how things are done at an aircraft MRO called JAT Tehnika, which is part of the AviaPrime company. We’re just in time to witness a key step in the conversion of a 767 from a passenger aircraft into a freighter: the cutting of a large piece out of a 767 fuselage where its cargo door will eventually be fitted. This conversion is something only a handful of facilities are certified to do. An engineer walks us through the 767 and shows us just some of what has to go into converting this plane, which is also getting a heavy maintenance check at the same time.

MRO stands for maintenance, repair and operations – it's where you take your aircraft to get serviced, checked and repaired. And that means there’s plenty more to look at for those of you who are technicallyminded or just plain curious what goes into this whole process. And it’s a lot

We also get a tour of the engine shop and engine test run facility here in Belgrade and check out the vintage Yugoslavianera facility including some very classic aircraft parked out on the tarmac. And next week we’ll be headed to Ljubljana to see another company under the AviaPrime umbrella, Adria Tehnika, where they’re busy working on several aircraft including many CRJs and A320 family aircraft, so stay tuned for that!
