How to Test the Calcium Levels in Your Pool - Water Chemistry

Follow
HydroWorx International Inc.

Calcium hardness does not matter as much for HydroWorx pools as it does for concrete pools, but we still recommend testing it. Find out the process for testing the calcium levels in your HydroWorx pool's water.

To determine your pool's calcium hardness, follow these steps using a Taylor test kit:

Fill the comparator's right compartment with 25 mL of pool water.

Add 20 drops of R0010 (calcium buffer). Swirl the comparator compartment while adding the drops.

Add five drops of R0011L (calcium indicator liquid). The pool water will turn pink.

Put the cap on the comparator and gently swirl or shake.

Add drops of R0012 (hardness reagent) while swirling until the pool water turns blue, counting the number of drops used.

Multiply the number of R0012 drops added by 10 to determine the parts per million of calcium in your pool water.

We recommend a calcium level of 200400 parts per million.
