http://www.johngibbonsbodymaster.co.u... John Gibbons is a sports Osteopath and a lecturer for the 'Bodymaster Method ®' and in this video he is discussing the origin, insertion and action of the rectus femoris and also the psoas and iliacus known as the main hip flexors and also the Tensor fascia late and inserts via the iliotibial band to the gerdys tubercle of the knee.

John shows how to differentiate between these muscles by adding in rotation of the hip joint. If the muscles are weak then look at the Lumbar plexus at specific levels and nerves; Rec fem femoral Nerve L2L4. TFL from the Superior Gluteal nerve of L4/5 and Psoas from the level of L1L3.

The hip joint also relates to the adductor muscles pectineus, adductor brevis, longus, magnus and gracilis that attaches to the pes anserinus or goose foot on the tibia. The adductors are flexors of hip as well as internal rotates and naturally adduction. The psoas is involved with Janda lower crossed syndrome and also some of the nerves of the lumbar plexus passes through the psoas muscle. Do you know that the psoas is the Filet part of the Beef!
