Fishing knot video tutorial. Learn how to tie a snell knot. Easy step by step instructions for tying a snell knot in this simple guide.
The snell knot was originally invented in Great Britain for eyeless hooks.
It keeps the line aligned with the shank of this fishing hook to preserve strength. It should be tied on a hook with a bent eye so that the line can exit straight without a kink. It is a important knot in multiple hook rigs.
Advantages:
Very strong attachment to hook retaining 95.6% line strength when tied properly. No knot sits on the eye of the hook. Can be tied on eyeless hooks which is handy in a survival situation.
I use this on circle hooks allowing the hook to “ circle” and to almost set the hook for you when I catfish and I also use this on my trotline
