How to turn a simple sequence into evolving harmonies | Xaoc Odessa Moskwa II and Sofia

Follow
Tom Churchill

This is a variation on one of the patches in my previous video about the Xaoc Devices Sofia, which uses the Moska II sequencer to drive both a melody line from Sofia and a fivevoice harmony part from Odessa.

By feeding copies of the main sequence into five sampleandholds (in Mutable Instruments Stages), and using a clock divider (the Doepfer A1602) to trigger them at five different intervals, we get an evolving ‘chord’ texture that’s based on the notes from the sequence, which in this case is a minor 7th/9th arpeggio with a couple of extra notes.

Modulation comes from the SSF/DivKid RND Step and the New Systems Instruments Quad LFO. Effects come from the Zoom MS70CDR pedal for Sofia, and Calsynth Monsoon (an expanded clone of Mutable Instruments Clouds) for Odessa.
