An in depth true step by step tutorial for all users, from beginner to expert. Shows each step of installing required software, and how to configure and use it. In this video you join an iracing session in either Monitor Mode or VR Mode using Oculus SDK, and SteamVR.
Learn how to use and configure, and size and position, Racelab.app overlays in VR, with Racelab.app program. Also works with Quest 3.
** Please following from beginning to end of video, so you don't miss required setup steps to the install process. Missing any step, or jumping ahead during setup, may cause a problem. Sorry for long video, it’s all needed.
** Software limitations, if you have a space in Windows username, or an AMD Graphics card, you need to follow the "Crewchief method" of entering VR for Racelabs overlays. This will show all the steps required. Be sure you DO NOT press the VR button within Racelabs, if using the Crewchief method.
** For best overlay opacity viewing, whilst using Crewchief method, follow steps relating to reducing screen size, if you only have 1 monitor, or placing overlays on a separate monitor, for multi monitor users. 3. there are 2 options related to Default OpenXR Runtime setting we can use.. In iracing, if you only use Oculus as display mode, than Oculus can be left as Default OpenXR Runtime. This is the normal method. If you want to use OpenXR as display mode in iracing you must set SteamVR as default OpenXR runtime. This is important to understand.

Most important aspects of this setup are:
1. YOU MUST use the Crewchief method if you have a space in your Windows usename, such as
"John Smith", or if you have an AMD brand graphics card.

Be certain VC_Redist.x64.exe file has been installed on your computer. If it was not previously installed, you should uninstall Racelabs if it has been installed prior to the VC_Redist.x64.exe, and then reinstall Racelabs.
3. 32 GB of computer ram is recommended for this process. Although I have made this work with only 16 GB
4. Check Oculus and your graphics manufacturer for minimum specs to run VR.
5. Iracing Graphics:
a) Max cars must be set to 63 cars.
b) Full Screen must be turned off

My computer specs: 10900k cpu and a RTX3080ti graphics card, and 32GB of RAM. This setup also works for me on an old pc with only 16GB ram and a GTX1080ti card.

Startup Steps are as follows: 1. Start Quest headset. 2. Start oculus program on PC. 3. Connect cable PC. 4. Start a link mode session from within headset. 5. Start Iracing session, be sure to select Oculus from display mode drop box. 6. SteamVR should auto open when joining a session. 7. Open Racelabs, open overlays and click VR button.

If using Crewchief and after it's installed. Do all steps above, but do not press VR button in Racelabs. Simply open Crewchief program. If you want to use Crewchief spotter click start in Crewchief.
