Sentir, se sentir, and ressentir can all be translated to "to feel." In this French Grammar lesson, we are looking at the differences between the 3. While they look similar, they have very different uses. Let's see them quickly. Sentir: Translates to to feel (to touch) to smell to sense Se sentir: Translates to to feel but is always followed by an adjective or an adverb to describe how the person feels. Je me sens mieux Je me sens nerveuse. Ressentir: Ressentir is the confusing one. We use it to talk about deep feelings or to accentuate sensations. Je ressens de la peine.
