Many people are trying to come to Canada through PR or work permit, and they apply for a job Online or though LinkedIn or through Job agencies. After that, the recruiter contacts back through phone or email and offering the job offer letter or job agreement letter. So, you need to verify that the job offer letter you are getting is real or scam? For that, the first Rule is – “If you are getting a job offer letter without any interview or just based on small phone interview, there it is definitely a fake one.”

To explain in detail that what are the factors you should be checking for in a job letter to verify, We have made a word called “F M S L O”. So, there are 5 factors (1. Fee, 2. Missing information, 3. Salary, 4. Language quality, 5. Offer letter style) you need to check for authentication of a job letter.

5 factors are

1. Asking for fees – If the recruiter is asking for processing fee of an application or a fee for securing your job, then it is the 1st red flag that it is a fake job offer letter because Canadian companies never ask for any fees for securing a job and to hire you here, they have to pay fees and submit the documents to government and get an employment number (LMIA approval and number) from Government of Canada.

“NEVER PAY ANY FEES”

2. Missing or Incorrect Employer information – Your job offer letter should contain employer information such as website, phone number, email id and address. If you are receiving a job offer letter from free email account such as Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail or any other, then it is a fake one, because as an example, you are getting a job offer letter from a Company called ABC, then the email id would be like [email protected]. So, please check and verify all the information which is on offer letter as well as on company’s original website.

3. Unrealistic Salary – If a job offer letter has too high salary or too low salary in the offer letter and other benefits such as free accommodation, free meal, free airfare, and 68 weeks of vacation in a year, then it is a red flag that the offer letter is a fake one. One more important thing to note is, In Canada, there is no monthly salary, it is only hourly or per year salary.

4. Language quality Common sense suggests that the vast majority of individuals in a position to make an employment offer in Canada would have a good command of the English language.
Therefore, errors in the text of the job offer letter are a good indication that it is not legitimate. Incorrect verb conjugation, punctuation and misspelled words should not be prevalent in an official document from a Canadian company.
So, Check for any grammar mistakes and spelling errors in your offer letter as well as email.

5. Unconventional Job offer letter The extent to which the offer letter appears to be an official communication from a respected Canadian company can generally be quite revealing. Sometimes, a quick glance at the job offer letter is enough to discern a lack of authenticity. The formatting of the letter and the graphics or images it contains may stand out and seem offputting. Most Canadian companies are very effective at writing professionallooking offer letters to potential employees. Therefore, if the way the letter is written seems inadequate, or if there is an unconventional choice of font or font size, this should be a concern with respect to the legitimacy of the offer.

I have also shown the fake job offer letter and the mistakes in the offer letter here.

In the end, I have shown my Canadian job offer letter which is real and how the real offer letter has the formal structure.

My intend to create this video is just to make you aware about the scams related to job offer and please do not be in hurry and do not pay a single fee to anyone to get the job offer letter.
