The wooden flange bushing on my Thalland SPS longtail has worn out. The original bushing was delrin. It's a good material, but melts if not properly cooled, i.e., you can only run it in the water. If fishing line, weeds or anything got caught between the drive shaft and the bushing, it would melt.

I tried a wooden bushing after that. It wouldn't melt, but wears out faster, and has to be replaced more often.

The brass flange bushing is great, but a brass bushing, steel shaft turning at 3,600 RPM in water equals electrolysis. Would would turn your motor into a big battery: corrosion.

Now we have the Bayou Bushing. I don't know what this material is, but reports are that it takes 400 hours of hard use just to break it in. That's good news. This is the latest technology with Thai longtails.
