Practical Project: HR Data Analysis and Modeling

Objectives

You were appointed data analyst at an organization, your task is to model and analyze the HR data to generate insights and provide recommendations regarding staff promotions. Since the company commenced operations in 2016 and currently employs 85 staff members, the goal is to identify employees who are eligible for promotion, specifically those who have been with the company for 7 years or more.

Key Objectives

1. Analyze the HR data of the organization.
2. Provide insights and recommendations for staff promotions.
3. Identify employees with 7 or more years of service.
4. Develop a systematic framework for promoting eligible staff members.

Algorithm and Technical Workplan

To accomplish these objectives, the following steps will be undertaken:

1. Data Cleaning: Prepare and clean the HR data to ensure accuracy and consistency.
2. Service Duration Calculation: Calculate the length of service for each employee based on their start date.
3. Eligibility Identification: Use conditional logic to identify employees eligible for promotion (those with 7 or more years of service).
4. Data Modeling: Create a fact table and dimension tables, establishing relationships using Power Query and Power Pivot in MS Excel.
5. Dashboard Creation: Develop comprehensive HR and promotion dashboards to visualize the data.
6. Insight Generation: Analyze the dashboards to extract meaningful insights.
7. Recommendation Formulation: Provide actionable recommendations based on the insights gathered.

This approach will ensure a thorough analysis of the HR data and facilitate an effective promotion strategy for eligible employees.
