STORYLINE:
Lebanon's militant Hezbollah group held a funeral on Wednesday for Yasser Nemr Qranbish, a former bodyguard to leader Hassan Nasrallah who was killed by an Israeli drone strike in Syria.

Qranbish's coffin was draped in Hezbollah's yellow flag and carried through a crowd of hundreds of mourners, chanting slogans and crying.

He was killed on Tuesday when an Israeli drone hit a car in Syria near the border with Lebanon, according to a war monitor and the Syrian progovernment radio Sham FM.

An Israeli man and woman were killed hours later in a retaliatory Hezbollah strike on Israel.

Hezbollah supporters mourned Qranbish's death on social media, calling him the “shield of the Sayyed,” in reference to his tenure as Hassan Nasrallah's bodyguard.

Qranbish had been mainly active in Syria in recent years and involved in weapons shipments for Hezbollah, said an official with an Iranbacked group, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
